Although we were mostly packed yesterday, we still didn't leave home till 10:15 a.m., by the time we packed the fridge and the kit kats and all their stuff, and shut off the water at the house and changed the thermostat setting, blah blah blah.
We stopped in Milton and turned on the generator and microwave, and reheated leftover pizza for lunch (gluten free for me of course). We decided to cross the border at Sarnia, and got there about 3:30 p.m. Weather was fine till Woodstock, then we had flurries all the way to the border.
We crossed very quickly, it only took about 5 or 10 minutes.
Border crossing at Sarnia.
We decided to bypass Detroit during Friday night rush hour, and went through Flint, Michigan instead. Sketchy weather there, snowy. We continued on through Ann Arbour, Michigan to the Toledo, Ohio area and stopped for the night around 7 p.m. at a Quality Inn in Holland, Ohio. For dinner we reheated roast beef, potatoes & carrots, and had a salad on the side. Thanks Geo for your good advice to have something prepared to reheat for the first two nights on the road!
Temperature outside is cold, will be below freezing tonight and quite cold again tomorrow. We covered close to 700 km today.
Kit kats are getting their "travel legs". Abby complained all the way to Milton, when Paul gave her a new mousie, and settled her in her travel crate (with the door off), and she was fine after that. Bandit is an old hand at this, he just settles into his puffy bed between the driver and passenger seats, we cover him with a blanket, and he stays there, only rousing occasionally to complain about bumps in the road.
Not sure where we will be tomorrow, sounds like the weather is going to be cold everywhere except Florida, and if that's the case, we'll just beeline it to Florida and give old Elvis a miss this trip. We'll see, because, after all, we be gypsies ...
